Nerds Need Love Too
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, if you’re stumped for ideas Fanboys Marketplace has a few suggestions to satisfy the inner nerd in all of us.
That’s right. Valentine’s Day is just a week away and if you haven’t made any plans yet, no worries! Fanboys not only has comics, toys, and collectibles, but we’ve got tons of advice! Here’s a few ideas that’s sure to win your significant’s nerdy heart.
Take a day trip to a museum
There’s a ton of great museums and galleries here in Fort Worth, don’t get me wrong. Sometimes you need to change things up a bit. How about hopping that TRE over to Dallas and visit the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. There’s over four stories of #science! The Perot museum’s got space. It’s got Dinosaurs. It’s got 3D movies. It’s got gems. It’s even got a cafe for dinner and a gift shop if you forgot to get him/her/them a gift! How can you go wrong?
Play Some Games
This could go in several directions so let me steer you toward’s the ones you can play in public. A great place to have some fun and a drink at the same time is Game Theory in Fort Worth. It’s located off Main Street on the South Side of Fort Worth and is always a great time. Another idea is find a Trivia Night somewhere. Several bars host trivia nights and if you look hard enough you might find one with a V-Day theme. Trivia and table top games not good enough? Raise the stakes by booking an Escape Room. One right off the top of my head is The Secret Chambers which has a location in Fort Worth and in Arlington. It also might be a good idea to double date as four heads are better than two when trying to steel money on a run away train.
Cook A Meal
I know there’s got to be some foodies out there into nerd culture, and lucky you there’s some cook books to prove it. Google a nerdy recipe or check out some of these books for a meal you and your partner could prepare together. Bonus points if you put the film or TV show on in the background while you cook. Super Boss Level if you can both quote the lines along with the actors and prepare the meal.
A few cookbook’s you may want to check is: Doctor Who: The Official Cookbook by Joanna Farrow, The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook by Dinah Bulchoz, An Unexpected Cookbook: The Unofficial Book of Hobbit Cookery by Chris-Racheal Oseland, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Marc Sumerak. I’m pretty sure each of these are available on Amazon so you can order them today and get them by V-Day for sure!
Go To The Library
Talk about your nerdy dates…but really have you seen what the Fort Worth Library offers! A ton of events! and they’re all free (usually)! Case in point, this Saturday the 12th the library is hosting the Northside Romantic Film Fest. It begins Saturday afternoon at 3pm where you and your partner can watch the sappiest rom-coms ever made. Again, it’s a free event! Need more details? Contact 817.392.6641 and they’ll be happy to fill you in!
Okay! I think you’re ready. You’ve got places to go for food, for games, for laughs and dinosaurs. Now, if you need a date…well that will have to be another blog post.
