Summer is on its way, here’s our pop culture calendar of what to look forward to
College semesters are starting to wrap up. Finals are…finalizing and in just a few weeks-as a certain Alice Cooper once sang-school will be out for Summer. Lucky for us there’s an ocean of pop culture movies, tv and events to jump head first into. Therefore: my list of my top picks to make sure you add to the top of your Summer schedule.
Get your tickets! Coming soon to a theater near you.
- May 27-the Bob’s Burgers Movie comes to theaters
- June 10–Jurassic World: Dominion reunites all our favorites from the OG Jurassic film
- June 17–Lightyear, from Disney/Pixar, tells the origin story behind our favorite space toy
- July 8–Thor: Love and Thunder. I know some weren’t fans of Ragnarok, but as a huge Taika Watit fan, I’m ready.
- July 29–DC League of Superpets. Batman is voiced by Keanu Reeves…’nuff said.
Check your subscriptions! TV shows to keep on your radar.
- May 27- Stranger Things season 4, part 1 and Obi-Wan Kenobi premiers on this date. If each network follow the usual formula, you should be able to bing-watch Stranger Things on Netflix since Disney Plus releases will release an episode of Obi-Wan once a week.
- June 3-The Boys season 3 comes out on Amazon Prime.
- June 8–Ms Marvel debuts on Disney Plus, starring Iman Villani as the titular character.
- June 22–The Umbrella Academy season 3 premiers on Netflix.
Events you definitely don’t want to miss.
- May 21-Anime Wonder Festival, a one day Japanese and Anime pop culture festival and it’s free!
- May 28-29-Collect-A-Con at the Fort Worth Convention Center
- June 3-5-A-KON, an Anime convention at the Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas
- June 4-North Dallas Toy Show at Dallas Event Center in Farmers Branch. A monthly toy show that takes place the first Saturday of every month.
- June 17-19-Fan Expo Dallas! The year’s biggest ComicCon.
- July 15-17-Dream Con at Esports Stadium in Arlington.
Some of the conventions above I blogged about earlier in the year. As a result, you can read more here. For a full list of conventions all over Texas visit www.fancons.com.
Most of the August release dates and events are still a little iffy, so I left them off the list for now. I’ll update everyone once it gets a little closer to the end of July. Otherwise this is a pretty packed dance card. So, which of these pop culture events will you add to your calendar? I’ll definitely be tuning in for the TV show and movies, but I’ll be a bit more choosey when it comes to Cons. I can’t catch them all.
