No one can argue (though some might still) that The Mandalorian and Grogu are some of the best things to come out of the Star Wars universe since the Star Wars Animated Series. Of course I love The Mandalorian, and how can you resist that cuter than cute of all alien species, Baby Yoda, aka Grogu.
If the plushie, the pillowcase, the comforter, the wallpaper, the handbag and the shower curtain wasn’t enough Grogu for your home, now you can purchase your own animatronic puppet. That is if you’ve got between $85,000 and $100,000 dollars on you.
Why the difference in price? Apparently it depends on how many servos you order. Which means how many movements you want Grogu to have. You order 15 servos, his eyes blink and he can move his ears. If you order 25, then his hands can use the force. Pretty freakin’ cool.
The high-end collectible debuted at San Diego Comic Con last weekend. EFX Collectibles and Garner Holt Productions collaborated on the puppet. It’s highly realistic to the one they actually use on the set of The Mandalorain but considerably cheaper. The actual Baby Yoda puppet cost about $5 million dollars to make. According to Nerdist.com the creative team approached the project like a theme park attraction, since it will have to hold up over time without any adjustments.
Don’t have $100,000 sitting around anywhere? No worries, Hasbro makes an animatronic “Galactic Snackin’ Grogu” for just $79.99. Still a bit pricey? I hear Amazon’s got a Grogu Plushie for just $20. For some of us, that will simply have to do.
