The Dallas Mavericks recently sent shockwaves through the NBA Draft, leaving fans exhilarated with their bold moves. I can confidently say that we are thrilled to welcome our newest defensive powerhouse, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, to the Mavericks family.
Our front office orchestrated a series of calculated maneuvers, trading our tenth spot and Davis Bertans to secure the twelfth spot from the Thunder. This strategic play allowed us to acquire the highly sought-after Duke center, Dereck Lively II, who brings an impressive presence to our team. But we weren’t done there. We re-entered the first round, targeting center Richaun Holmes and snatching the No. 24 pick from the Kings. And with that pick, we revealed our trump card—Marquette forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
Known affectionately as OMax, Prosper’s draft stock soared thanks to his standout performance in the NBA combine. With his exceptional defensive prowess and a rapidly improving 3-point range, Prosper is set to fill a significant gap in our roster, especially following the departure of the dependable perimeter defender, Dorian Finney-Smith.
After his selection, Prosper wasted no time in expressing his excitement and gratitude during his press interviews. He spoke of the instant connection he felt with the city and the team during his earlier workout in Dallas.
“From the moment I stepped foot in Dallas a few weeks ago for the workout, I knew there was something special here. The warm welcome and the sense of belonging were immediate. I genuinely believe I’ve found my home,” Prosper shared. “I couldn’t be happier about joining the Mavericks.”
It’s worth noting that our exceptional General Manager, Nico Harrison, had assured Prosper that Dallas would be his next basketball journey even before the Sacramento Kings made their pick at No. 24.
