Mega Bat Inspiration
The Batman ignites fan art on Twitter
Maybe by now you’re saying, “Okaaaay, enough about The Batman…” but five days after seeing the film I can’t get it off of my mind. And it seems a lot of other people feel the same way. Before seeing the film I drew up some fan art because I was so excited to see it. After seeing the film, I drew up more. I also wound up hurtling myself down a Twitter rabbit hole of everything #batman to see all the fan art that people were posting.
One of the most pleasing things about the marketing of the film is that color palette: red and black! black and red! I just love it. I can’t get enough, and it seems a lot of other artists noticed it too. You know, I used to be a huge fan of Batman. Growing up, he was in the top three comics I really cared about: X-Men, Spider-man, and Batman. Then pop culture caught up to me and people were posting memes, and making shirts that said things like, “Always be yourself, unless you can be Batman. Then always be Batman.” This was followed up recently by DC Comics just going nuts with new Batman titles such as: Batman, Detective Comics, Urban Legends, Knight, Batman ’89…I could go on! No joke, I could! There’s several more! So I began washing my hands of Batman, “Aw…let the public have him. If you love something, let it go-right?”
Then The Batman was released and before I knew what was happening to me I was on the endless Twitter scroll hearting every Bat-centric art piece that showed up. I guess I’m over it. Personally The Batman film has made Batman cool again. I didn’t think it could be done. On that note, I wanted to share a handful of art pieces that I really dug, and maybe share one of my own. Hey, we’re all fanboys here right?
And yes, tomorrow I might be able to find something else to write about besides The Batman…but don’t hold your breath.
