There’s a Stranger Things Experience merchandise store that’s on tour (one is in Dallas right now), but it’s hard to get into the spirit of things with dozens of other shoppers at your elbow. Unlike places like The Amityville Horror or The Stanley Hotel-Hawkins, Indiana doesn’t really exist. The popular television show actually films in Atlanta, Georgia. But don’t leave the Dungeons & Dragons game just yet, Graduate Hotels in Bloomington, Indiana has a hotel suite to help you immerse yourself into the world of Stranger Things.
Make yourself at home in Joyce Byers’ living room, complete with floral wallpaper, a pull-out sofa bed and , of course, Christmas lights. Sorry in advance-the lights seem to have a mind of their own.
Next door, the Wheeler’s basement is just what you’d expect, wood-paneled walls and all. You’ll feel like part of the party with oversized walkie talkies and a collection of retro board games. If you’re up for it, start a game of Dungeons & Dragons-you can even wear Will’s purple wizard cloak to really get into character. Plus these 80’s inspired digs have a king bed for ultimate relaxation.
Graduate Hotels
If you want to actually watch Stranger Things during your stay, be sure to bring a laptop with you. Even though you have wi-fi access, what the room doesn’t have is a 21st century television. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Every Stranger Things suite stay also includes “The Upside Down Package”. Which feature a Polaroid camera to capture memories during your trip, bikes to ride through the city, and two Wonderlab Science Museum tickets. Oh and don’t forget a special ‘Leggo my Eggo snack pack. In honor of Eleven herself, Graduate Hotels donates 11% of the proceeds from your stay directly to the Wonderlab Science Museum.
The Stranger Things Store Experience was fun (trust me, I went) but this takes it to a whole new level. The website shows the suite is practically booked up for the rest of the year, with openings only available starting in January 2023. There’s a few spots left in 2022, but book now because I’m sure they’ll go quick.
