Joseph Mallozzi, a revered television writer and producer, was born on October 16th, 1965, in Canada.

Mallozzi’s career began in the late 90s when he wrote for children’s TV shows, including Animal Crackers, Caillou, The Little Lulu Show, and Wimzie’s House. He was even the associate producer for the one episode he did for Caillou. He would continue with predominantly children’s TV show work up until the early 2000s.

Now for what you came to read about, Mallozzi’s time with the Stargate franchise and Dark Matter!

In 2000 he became a writer and producer for the hit TV show Stargate SG-1! The show was a major break-away from Mallozzi’s previous works. Stargate SG-1 is a Canadian sci-fi show, starring the likes of Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, and Christopher Judge. Mallozzi produced the hit show until the final episode on June 22nd, 2007.

From 2004 to 2009, Mallozzi wrote and produced for another series within the Stargate franchise, Stargate Atlantis. The show takes place following Stargate SG-1’s final episode, and they find the location of Atlantis. Mallozzi wrote for over 20 episodes and produced for over 80! He contributed to the show until its very last episode on January 9th, 2009.

Following the fan praise from the previous two series, the creators of them decided to add a third installment with Stargate Universe! The show evidently takes place in the same universe as the other two series. Of course, Mallozzi produced and wrote for this series as well. The show ran from 2009 to 2011; Mallozzi contributed to the show until its last episode on May 9th, 2011. 

In 2012, after his time with the Stargate franchise, he wrote for four episodes of the show Transporter: The Series. He also wrote for three episodes of the mini-series Delete, but it would be in 2015 that we got to see his creativity come alive again!

Mallozzi is a co-creator of the sci-fi TV show, Dark Matter! He was also a writer and producer for the show. Set in the 27th century, six people find themselves on an abandoned spacecraft, but the twist is they have amnesia! The series showcases talented names like Melissa O’Neil, Anthony Lemke, and Jodelle Ferland. The show ran from 2015 to 2017; it remains one of Mallozzi’s best works! He is also the co-creator of the graphic novel series.

His most recent work is Utopia Falls; he is a writer, producer, and co-creator of the show! The show premiered in February of 2020 and has received praise from his loyal fans.

Joseph Mallozzi has an immense gift for creating remarkably detailed sci-fiction universes; he never disappoints! There is currently no word as to if there will be season two of Utopia Falls, but we sure hope there will be!
