Meet Paul T. Taylor

Meet Paul T. Taylor this weekend at Denton Comic Con by Fanboys

Paul T. Taylor will be at Denton Comic Con by Fanboys this Saturday, but it won’t be a long commute. Taylor hails from Dallas, TX. and you can often see him not only on screen but on stage at several close-to-home theaters such as Theater 3, Circle Theater, Stage West, and Casa Mańana. A classically trained actor he’s been in love with acting since childhood, “I embrace the job of the actor, telling stories and creating characters. I get bored easily and using my wacky life experiences to inform a character is one of the many rewarding gifts I have.”

With over 50 film, stage, and television credits to his name, Taylor knows a thing or two about character acting. “I have a vulnerability in my acting,” he says, “no matter what I do. It’s just there. I think an actor has to have that first of all, to be brave enough to be vulnerable. I get cast a lot because of my vulnerability, even if it’s an evil character.” His most notable role is the recent continuation of the Hellraiser series, Hellraiser: Judgment, where he was cast as the iconic role of the Hell priest Pinhead. “It was the coolest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,” Taylor says. “Being on that set was the coolest thing I’ve ever done.”

Danny Gallagher, in an article of Taylor for the Dallas Observer wrote, “The dark priest Pinhead first appeared as a minor character in one of Barker’s novellas and made the jump to film in 1987’s Hellraiser. He was played by actor Doug Bradley, who pretty much stole the screen. Pinhead appeared in nine films and has become as beloved and infamous as Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees or the Xenomorph from the Alien movies.”

For Taylor it was dream come true, being a lifelong fan of all things spooky and Halloween being his favorite holiday. “As a kid, I had only three requirements for the perfect Halloween costume: I had to be scary, grotesque and unrecognizable.”

Playing the demented priest may be the coolest things he’s ever done, but he’s also had roles in several other successful projects such as Friday Night Lights, Sin City and Prison Break. In any case, make sure you make your way to Denton Comic Con this Saturday to meet Paul T. Taylor in person. He’ll be there signing autographs and posing for photos on Saturday from 12pm-6pm at the Golden Triangle Mall.
