Pop Culture Update-004

Pop Culture Update-April 19, 2022

It’s been a minute since I did an overview of all the things that have been making Pop Culture news as of late. So double check the list below and make sure you haven’t missed out on anything!

Thor: Love and Thunder teaser trailer has arrived!

Finally, it’s here! Our first look at the newest Thor installment-Love and Thunder, as well as our first peek at Jane Foster as Thor. While this was only a teaser trailer, it still gave some epic scenes to look forward to. It hints at Zeus, Gor-The God Butcher, and what Thor’s been up to since Endgame. The film is the second in a row for director Taika Waititi. While there’s some fan division concerning the tone of Ragnarok, I thoroughly enjoyed it and defitinily am looking forward to Love and Thunder. Check out the trailer here.

The Batman is now streaming

Not that you need to be reminded, but The Batman is now streaming on HBO Max. Even though I really wanted to see it again on the big screen, I could never carve out the time. Now, though, I can watch it at home anytime. I’ll finally see what happens during that desperate 3 minute pee break I had to take about 2 hours in.

Stranger Things season 4 final trailer dropped

I wrote about this already, but it begs repeating: Stranger Things’ final trailer for season 4 has arrived. It looks to be the best one yet with bigger stakes, more super powers, a super creepy villain, and 80’s guitar shredding. I’m in. Watch the trailer here.

IDW announced 9 original new titles

IDW, the comics publisher behind TMNT, My Little Pony, and a host of irrational mashups such as the TMNT meet Batman and The Transformers meet My Little Pony, announced an impressive new line up of 9 original comic titles for 2023 and beyond. Some of my favorite creatives behind these projects include Scott Snyder writing, Jesse Lonergan on art and G. Willow Wilson writing.

Warner Brothers Discovery merger

Last but certainly not least, the Warner Brothers and Discover merger is final! Birthing a new company called Warner Brothers Discovery. This has brought up several discussions about what it means for the DCEU writ large and if WBC can find their very own Kevin Feige! Read more about it here.
