Spirit Halloween: The Movie!
Yes, you read that correctly. Spirit Halloween-the OG pop up shop, the seasonal store that haunts the abandoned Blockbuster, Best Buy or Barnes & Noble where you live, is coming to a theater near you. Spirit Halloween will soon be a major motion picture called…er…Spirit Halloween. And while they don’t get any awards for a creative title you have to give them points for branding, no one will not know what this movie is all about.
Which is a good question, right? What will this movie be all about? A synopsis from the official description of the film is below:
“When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night, but they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.”

Say what you want to about making a full length movie out of what really is just a seasonal retail costume/Halloween supply store, but I have zero doubts. Okay, maybe I have some doubts but still hear me out. Pirates of the Caribbean-once just a kiddie ride at Disney World-has spawned five full length feature films (a sixth is in the works) and has grossed over $4.5 billion dollars worldwide. Some of that may be due to the talent that was aboard that ship such as Johnny Depp, Kiera Knightly, Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush to name a few.
Have no fear though, because Spirit Halloween is itself bringing some familiar faces to the film. None other than Doc himself Christopher Lloyd is among the cast as well as Rachel Leigh Cook. There are some newcomers as well though: Donavan Colan (“Zoe”), Dylan Frankel (“Raven’s Home”), Jaiden Smith (“Blue Bloods”) and Marissa Reyes (“Raven’s Home”)and Marla Gibbs (“El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie”) made the casting call as well. The film is helmed by David Poag, making his directorial debut.
The film is billed as a family friendly kids adventure movie and is set to be released (need I even have to tell you) October 31st, 2022. The only other thing I need to know is when tickets go on sale.
