Vendor Spotlight: Kitty Klawz
This week Fanboys is pointing our spotlight on Kitty Klawz AKA Kathryn Johnson. Kathryn is the artist extraordinaire behind Kitty Klawz LLC a huge art booth set up inside Fanboys Marketplace’s Camp Bowie location. My first impression of Kitty’s booth is the sheer volume of work she has on display. She has tons of artwork up that come in all shapes and sizes but also in different mediums, formats and styles. There is definitely something for everyone at Kitty’s booth, and not just art. She also has stickers, prints, Funko Pops and even apparel.
Kitty readily confesses that she’s a newbie artist. Especially when it comes to the digital medium. She uses Procreate for her digital art pieces and is constantly learning. But if she has anything she’s got determination. “I’m really driven, y’know. I just don’t stop.” And it shows. “I’m still new,” she tells me, “this is my first year.” But you wouldn’t know it with the amount of work she has on display. Her artwork is more than just pretty paintings though. “Artwork is very therapeutic for me, and I also knew I was supposed to give back in some kind of way. I’m able to do that through my paintings.” In some of her darkest moments, painting is what kept her afloat. It was a way to say the things she didn’t have words for. Music has also been a huge inspiration for her and has literally saved her life at certain points. Which she reflects in several art pieces. She has an entire music section where she integrates her artwork alongside her Funko Pop selection.
She is available for commissions, and has plenty of examples at her booth if you visit Fanboys and happen to catch her there. She showed me several portraits she had done for different clients but assures me she’s available for anything. Someone even asked for a Stevie Ray Vaughn painting, everything is game. What are you interested in? She can bring it to life!
