Otaku Scents knows what your favorite characters smell like
Ashley-candle maker and owner of Otaku Scents Candle Co.-has a good idea. A better description of what Ashley does is make candles with scents inspired by your favorite anime and video game characters. More accurately she captures their essence. I asked her recently about her candles and her candle making process.
Ashley does her homework when it comes to creating each character’s scent. “I watch the anime, or play the game-just kind of get a feel for the character. Whether they like a certain thing or if there’s something about their personality that speaks out–giving a certain vibe of the scent.” One example she gives was the scent she created for Ryuk from Death Note-one of her more popular scents. His scent is apples with a hint of black cherry. “He loves apples,” Ashley said, “I added the black cherry for his more devious personality.”
Otaku Scents candles and scents are all hand made. Ashley uses 100% natural vegan soy wax. When I asked about the ‘throw’-which means how strong the candle’s scent is once lit, she said they’re made for small to medium sizes rooms. Think bathrooms, bedrooms, office spaces, etc. In a big open floor plan or a room with high ceilings it may be more difficult for the candle to be as effective.
