Vendor Spotlight: Smoking Barrel Gypsy

Smoking Barrel Gypsy is a women’s fashion boutique. It trends toward western wear with a modern twist, a hint of the southwest and a touch of the wild. In the booth at Fanboys you’ll find everything from graphic tees to pom-pom earrings and more.
I spoke with Smoking Barrel Gypsy Owner, Kim on the phone recently to ask how she got her start. Like several people’s stories these days-even my own-it was born out of a pandemic. “I was a teacher for ten years at a christian school in Arlington and they closed their doors due to Covid and I had to find something I could do from home.” Kim said she always enjoyed playing around making T-shirts and so she started with that, which lead to what Smoking Barrel is today.
When asked if running the boutique was Kim’s full time job, she said it was, but this isn’t the only store front she has. She actually runs three different locations. One is located in Kennedale, TX. inside the Iron Wheel Antique Mall and another in Arlington that’s more a smaller pop up shop. Sometimes her inventory doesn’t even make it to those stores because she also does a Facebook Live event every Tuesday night. “That’s a good way to see what our new arrivals are and depending on how the lives go sometimes the new arrivals don’t even make it to the booths.” Kim also does quite a few events and giveaways via her Facebook page and advises that Facebook is a good place to start if you’re interested in getting dibs on some of the latest arrivals.
